Shaun Eckhardt's Workout Tips
July 15, 2008
There isn't a week that goes by that somebody in the gym doesn’t ask "How can I get bigger?". Well it takes time and a lot of hard work, day in and day out! If you are doing EVERYTHING right you can notice a difference in as little as one month! Here are some of the key pointers that I have learned over my years of training. Knowledge is Power my friend!
* Stick to the basics - Compound movements such as deadlifts, full squats, and bench press should your bread and butter exercises when trying to put on some serious muscle!
* Be consistent - Day in and day out in the gym you are there working your butt off. You can’t expect to get big when you are missing every other day.
* Food Intake -Make sure you are eating enough calories!!!! It never fails, I have someone telling me how much food they eat and we sit down and put it all on paper they are eating 1200 calories. In order to build muscle you must take in enough calories to support growth and put you in an anabolic state.
* Supplementation - Using the right supplements is what is going to separate you from everybody else in the gym! So many people ask, "What’s the secret?" Well if there is a secret it’s this……
First thing in the morning I take my multivitamin, Glutamine Fuel (3 x day, 10gms), Joint Fuel (3 x day), and digestive enzymes. I take my Nitric Fuel thirty minutes before I begin my war in the gym. Post workout I take three tablespoons of Amino Fuel and one scoop of 100% Whey Protein Fuel with one banana. At night I make sure to take my Liver D-tox Fuel. (Note: All of these are Twinlab products)r!
* Intensity - In order to build muscle to have to break it down so it will build up that much bigger Train hard, train heavy, and train with everything you have. Try a pre-workout supplement to help with your intensity level during your workout!
* Rest - If you think you are growing while you are in the gym you are mistaken. You are breaking down your muscle tissue when you are working out and our bodies our recovering and growing when we are sleeping! So try to get at least 8 hours of sleep.
