Mike Morrison Undefeated at CBVA Ocean Beach Open
The Team Fuel Athlete Took First Place at the California Beach Volleyball Association Tournament
In preparation for what is sure to be an explosive weekend at this week’s Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) Huntington Beach Open, Team Fuel athlete Mike Morrison has been racking up wins on the California volleyball circuit.
On Saturday, May 15, Morrison hit the California Beach Volleyball Association’s (CBVA) Ocean Beach Open with partner and fellow San Diego local Matt Olson. The team dominated the field, remaining undefeated throughout the tournament, to take home first place.
One week later, Morrison headed to Huntington Beach with amateur partner Sumi Epie for the sixth annual Huntington Beach Pro-Am tournament. A solid performance carried the duo to the final round, where they claimed second place.
“We really came into our stride during the playoffs,” says Morrison. “We won four straight rounds in the single elimination playoff bracket, earning our way to the finals.”
The 2010 AVP Huntington Beach Open will take place at Huntington Beach, California from June 3 to June 6.
