Hey everybody, hope you are all doing well training hard, eating good, and learning something new every day. I have been busy training clients, taking advantage of a little down time from competing, and enjoying family and friends. My body and mind got some much needed rest since the USA Championships in July, and I feel rejuvenated and ready to prepare for my next contest. Over the last month I have enjoyed a lot of time with my family and friends. I found out my twin sister is having another baby so I am going to be an uncle again!! I also went to my girl’s family reunion and broke out some of my new salsa dancing moves. No you won't find any footage on YouTube yet, but give me one or two more family parties and I may debut my skills for you all! LOL!

My personal goal of earning my pro card in the National Physique Committee (NPC) has moved back to the top of the priority list again, and I am starting my preparations for the NPC Nationals on Nov 20-21st in Florida. I officially started my diet on Sept 1st, and I am actually very anxious to get back into a steady routine of training and timely eating.

I always ask myself a few questions before I get ready to compete in a contest.
1. What changes will I be able to make to my physique before stepping on stage? The changes I found I needed to make most are more detail in my hamstring muscles and a tighter overall appearance. I am 100% certain that I am going to sport new hamstring detail because I wasted no time in making a more demanding hamstrings workout, and I have practiced my mind muscle control and improved my ability to actually be able to flex these muscles better, it is tough to do. As for a tighter overall appearance, I think getting enough rest this time will make all the difference.

2. Is my current support system, living situation, and income sufficient and stable enough to help me get through the training process so I can be my best on the day of the contest? Well it would be nice, and a perfect little world if I always had tons of support, easy living and an endless supply of cash so the only thing I have to do is focus on training for a contest. But, the harsh reality in life is nothing is ever going to be a perfect case scenario just because you “want” it to be. I am busting my butt, and doing everything within my power to make sure I enjoy overcoming all the unforeseen obstacles I am sure will arise as I prepare for the Nationals. It’s ironic, but I always find I need and desire something go wrong, so I can overcome it en route to becoming a champion. There is something about the mindset of being an “underdog” that brings relentless fortitude out of me to train harder, diet without any mistakes, and envision myself winning the Nationals on a daily basis. I think I start believing in myself more and more as I train hard and the days dwindle down until contest day. So come on, obstacles, I’m ready for you, help me be my best, help me bring out the champion inside!

3. The last question I ask myself is am I serious, and do I really want this bad enough to make all the necessary sacrifices with my time, away from family, friends, and events? In my opinion, the day I hesitate to answer this question is the day it is time for me to move on to something else new because my passion is not there anymore. Nothing should make me question my decision to be the best bodybuilder I can be. I consider all the time I put in the sport to be part of my “job”. And my job is to make my dreams come true, and that won’t happen if I have doubt, lack passion, or hesitate. As a matter of fact, these things will take me further from my dream and I will not be doing my job. Being a bodybuilder is like any other job, and you have to be ready to do the work the job requires. For example, think about a police officer. Every once in a while you need to pull your gun out, point it at the criminal and take the safety lock off to let them know you mean business. Well, right now I am locked, loaded, and I got the first place trophy in my sights, and I guarantee you I will be ready to pull the trigger on November 20-21st at the NPC Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale!! Now I got to get to the gym and do my job, until next time….TRAIN HARD!!
