Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well and had a great New Year! I have been very busy since competing in the 2010 NPC Las Vegas Classic. I placed 11th, a few spots below the previous year’s 4th place finish. But I was still very pleased with my showing and the improvements I made during the year.
The completion of the USA contest made for a seven-show total that culminated from over two years of dieting, training and competing. I had a great two-year run, winning my first national contest and placing 4th in my first pro qualifier. I have reached a very high level of competing in the National Physique Committee (NPC). Recognizing this fact has put me in a position to make more calculated decisions about when to compete next. First, I know my body is tired and needs to rest for a while. My plan is to return to the stage in 2012 as a light heavyweight at the USA Championships and make a run for a pro card! Until then, I will do my best to keep everyone up to date with my training progress and improvements!
The other new exciting adventure I have taken up is coaching. I am in my first season as Head Coach for the Torrey Pines High School wrestling team here in San Diego, CA. Wrestling has been a part of my life for nearly 20 years, starting at age 8 and continuing through college. I have a great group of kids all eager to do their best. We are a very young team made up primarily of sophomores. As a team we are young and have a lot of room for improvement but I believe we have the potential to do great things in the future.
All in all, 2010 was a good year for me. I am grateful for my accomplishments, family and friends. The end of the year is the best time to look back on the months gone by and the challenges you have endured. The New Year is also a great time to make plans for the future. I hope you all are planning on making 2011 a year to remember!!
