Lolo Jones Wins 100-Meter Hurdles Title at 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships
Team Fuel’s Track and Field Star Placed First in Front of Her Home Crowd.
Tension was high at Drake Stadium on Saturday, June 26 as athletes took to the starting blocks for the 100-meter hurdles at the 2010 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Des Moines, Iowa.
In the wake of two previous defeats at the Drake relays, Olympic track and field star Lori “Lolo” Jones kept her eye on the prize as she prepared to face off against Damu Cherry, who boxed Jones out at the Relays in April, and Tiffany Ofili, the 2009 Drake champion.
Jones, a Twinlab Fuel sponsored athlete since last year, broke from the blocks like a shot and immediately began pulling away from the pack in front of a cheering crowd of over 9,000.
The Des Moines native tore through the finish line at 12.69 seconds, out-performing Cherry and Ofili, who placed third and fifth respectively, making this Jones’ second career win at an outdoor USA Championships since her victory at the 2008 Olympic Trials.
“I can’t describe it,” Jones told the Des Moines Register shortly after crossing the finish line. “It’s great to be back home.”
