Adageo Tames “America’s Toughest Stage Race”
The Twinlab-Sponsored Cycling Team Cracked the Top 20 at the 2010 Tour of Utah
On Tuesday, August 17, the Adageo Energy Pro Cycling team joined a pool of 150 elite cyclists in Park City, Utah, for the 2010 Tour of Utah, a professional bicycle stage race across the Beehive State.
Steep descents, high-speed turns and nearly 30,000 feet of high-altitude climbing give the event its nickname, “America’s Toughest Stage Race,” and with the cream of the country’s cycling crop in attendance, Twinlab was naturally right there with them.
The Tour of Utah is comprised of six parts: a prologue, three road stages, a criterium and a time trial, all of which lead riders through some of Utah’s most unforgiving and diverse terrain.
Of the 150 riders that geared up at the starting line on day one, just 71 managed to cross the finish line on the final day of the Tour. And of those 71, two were Adageo riders, including an outstanding 18th place finish by Evan Huffman, who finished just 14 minutes and six seconds behind Tour winner Levi Leipheimer. Teammate Alfredo Cruz later joined him at the finish line in 64th place.
Watch Evan as he pedals relentlessly to the top of the final climb of the Tour.
“I couldn’t believe how many fans came out,” said team director and member Josh Horowitz. “I’ve never seen America respond to cycling the way it did in Utah. It was like the Tour de France!”
