Adageo Energy Pro Cycling Team Secures Top 10 Finish at Sea Otter Classic 2010

The Adageo Energy Pro Cycling team headed to Monterey, California this weekend to compete in the 2010 Sea Otter Classic. Four riders – Tim Farnham, Adam Carr, Matt Landen and Eric Bennett – showed up to take part in three events.

Drawing up to 10,000 athletes, 300 exhibitors and 50,000 fans each year, the Sea Otter Classic is considered the world’s largest cycling festival and hosts a range of events spanning multiple disciplines.

The Adageo Energy Pro Cycling team started strong on Thursday with the men’s criterium. Adam Carr and Tim Farnham held it down for Adageo and ripped through the course alongside some intimidating competition. “The criterium was a bit of a challenge,” says Farnham. “One team consisted of 10 of the 27 starters. They used their numbers to their advantage launching attack after attack.” Regardless, Farnham held his own and secured ninth place. Carr followed in 19th.

The next event – the road race – followed on Friday with Matt Landen joining Farnham and Carr at the starting line. “The road race was an amazing course,” says Farnham. The course, or “The Wall,” proved challenging once again, splitting the peloton into several groups. “Nine laps of ‘The Wall’ on Fort Ord proved to be a lot of climbing and an exciting finish,” he says. “The first time up the wall was fast and furious, splintering the group, but all three of us made it up and over.” Farnham brought it home for Adageo Energy once again with a 13th place finish. Landen followed in 27th.

The last day of racing saw all four riders competing side-by-side in the men’s circuit race. “We did a great job of fighting for position and not letting groups get away,” says Farnham, who encountered a flat tire 50 minutes into the two-hour race. Carr, Landen and Bennet worked hard to stay at the front, but repeated breaks from larger teams eventually took its toll on the trio. “Adam Carr was working hard for us chasing down attacks. Landen and Bennet put in great efforts to chase and paid for it later on, but still managed to finish with the pack.” Landen and Bennet finished in 25th and 26th respectively.

Twinlab was in attendance at the four-day event to support the Adageo Energy Pro Cycling team and give attendees a chance to sample select Fuel products including Amino Fuel®, 100% Whey Protein Fuel® and a crowd favorite, Endurance Fuel®.
